A business group, led by Carlos Abumohor, has,
signed a letter of intention with the Municipality of Pucón.
The details of the letter include a US$ 5 million investment
for newmountain infrastructure. The planned investment includes
new lifts and an access gondola or cable car.
The business group and the Municipality of Pucón are
asking the government of Chile to pave the access road to the
main mountain lodge. Currently the government is paving the
first two kilometers. The mayor of Pucón, Carlos Barra,
has met with government officials to formally petition the pavement
of the remaining 8 km.
The mayor has related that the agreement with the investors
has been signed. Also, the business group has already been formed,
and their financial resources have been confirmed. The preliminary
project report is also complete.
With the new investment, officials hope the resort will expand
skier visits from the current 20 thousand per season to 60 thousand.
