Chapa Verde is 78 kilometers south of Santiago, accessible
by a well maintained paved road and a dirt access road. Bus service
is available to the mountain from the city of Rancagua. The vertical
drop is about 700 meters. There are trails for
all ability levels and some of the best off- piste skiing in Chile.
Chapa has 4 lifts.
There are only private homes on the mountain.
However, one of the best ski hotel deals in Chile is at the Coya
Country Club, a half hour's drive from the mountain. Rooms are only
U.S. $25 per night, which includes use of the tennis courts and
golf course. It is possible to ski in the morning and do 18 holes
in the afternoon.
